View Full Version : Anyone know anything about this 1880s (?) game?

New one on me. From "Leonard Mfg. Co." Featured cut-outs (from several sheets) of position players on rival teams in blue and red, and umpires, that you'd use in....some way.

A picture would help... we're not seeing one in the initial post...

Leonard Mfg Co produced The Lap Board Games in about 1900, a sumptuously decorated multi-game wooden board,
but we presume that's not what you have. At least, not if the die-cut (or hand-cut) player-figures are original to your game.
Is it likely (or possible) the player-figures belong to another game and just happened to be left with your game?

Thanks Greg -- we've seen those before, just once, and only because Leon has (or had) a strip of those players.
Sorry, we've not yet (meaning since Leon showed his strip) been able to ascertain the source of those guys.
Is that all you have of the game -- the player strip? Where is the Leonard ID located on that,
and are you estimating the 1880s date or is that indicated somewhere?

I would say that is a good little nugget of info, thanks Greg!!

Fascinating to be sure. In many years of researching game stuff, Leon's example and the eBay offering
are the only traces of this game, or even suggestions of it, that we've ever encountered.
