does anyone know why cards in the 1979 topps set are improperly numbered? For example, I have a 1979 topps #8 Larry Bowa AS card. Originally this card was numbered 210, but not on mine. I have a bunch of them like this. I know burger king did a run but Bowa was numbered 15. Anyone?

If the card on the left in both pictures are the same card you have what is known as a wrong back. They are fairly common. 1979 was a stellar year for Topps errors. I have blank fronts, blank backs, wrong backs, and even cards that have 1978 backs with 1979 fronts.

Your Bowa is the Burger King issue. The low number gives it away.

By the way there is a cool Pete Rose card with the Phillies in the Burger King issue. Different photo than the regular Topps but still with the All-Star designation.

In my early years at Beckett, which occured more than a decade after the last Burger King set we got constant letters about numbering such as in the Bowa card.
