Sad news today. The passing of Carmen Berra, the wife of Yogi.

There are not very many baseball wives out there that I can name. In fact, Carmen Berra and Marilyn Monroe are probably the only two that I can.

Can anyone name any other baseball wives form any time period?

Anna Benson. Mostly from when she threatened to bang the entire Mets organization if she ever caught Kris cheating..

Ms Anna's mug shot is scary; her pin-uo photos are nice.

Oh Yeah. How could I forget Tawny Kitaen. Didn't know she was a baseball wife until she beat up, her then husband, Chuck Finley with a shoe..

My condolences to Yogi and his sons, along with the rest of their family.

Off the top of my head, I can think of Eleanor Gehrig, Claire Ruth and Cyndy Garvey.

Caroline Bridges. A friend and fellow Bridges collector has an photo of her in the stands the day of his WS matchup against Dizzy Dean in 34' - a nervous wreck. One of my favorite photos, wish I had a copy ready to share.

I have met Carmen Berra twice.

In the mid-1980's, Yogi was the signing guest at the Asbury Park Convention Hall Show. A very large crowd arrived to see Yogi, talk with him, and have Yogi
sign their items. It was a really fun show.

While Yogi was up on the stage signing, Carmen went around to all the dealers at the show looking for Yogi memorabilia, BB cards, etc. She chatted for quite
some time with all of us, and I will never forget how delightful she was.

And, several years ago, I ran into Carmen in front of Schneider's Bakery in Cooperstown NY on HOF weekend. I asked her how Yogi was, then we talked about
the neighboorhood in Montclair, NJ. At that time, my daughter, Debbie, lived 4 houses down the street from the Berra residence.

GOD Bless Carmen....and, GOD Bless and comfort Yogi and their Family.
