Now that the auction has ended...

I wanted to see if anyone knows what this one sold for....

http://www.ebay.com/itm/CIRCA-1923-SPALDING-CATCHERS-TROPHY-/291090699799?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&nma=true&si=I10BmHdGf1y%252BPWhZS7UY2btG6DQ%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc#ht_677wt_1161

It looked just a tad "rough", especially given the asking price. Not a terrible example... just a bit worn. Plus, I couldn't quite figure out what was going on with the base... kind of reminded me of a vanilla/chocolate swirly cone. This one might actually polish up well, and perhaps look great with a little TLC.

But in ebay's "infinite wisdom" you can no longer see what BINs actually sell for. Just another of many ill-advised actions on the part of ebay (IMO).

The "Canada Trick" worked for a while, but no longer it seems. Does anyone know how to tell the actual Best Offer amount that was accepted?

Thanks

It still works for us in Canada, it went for $2,850.00.

Thank you, Chris! They have somehow disabled that feature for us, here in the US...

Now that I look at it closer, I think I see a few revelations...

The white that's "caked" into the grooves is actually dried silver polish. Someone just didn't have the time/patience to dig it all out. Endless number of grooves, with that Chest Protector, and all. But it should look infinitely better, if properly cleaned up.

Best way I've found is to use a toothpick to scrape it out. Yes, it takes forever, but pays huge dividends if you have the patience. A wood toothpick is rigid enough to scrape out the dried polish, yet soft enough not to scratch/damage the metal plate.

As for the base... it looks like maybe the black paint was flaking off. I am guessing they sanded off the flakes/loose paint, and polished it up after sanding. It's really kind of a cool "marbled" look!

assuming that the transaction went down as posted - go to ended item and find where it says PRINT. You can take it from there.......

You can also just change the "www" to "item" at the first part of the url.
