I'm not sure if this thread has been brought up before, but I've noticed on quite a few T206's that it seems that a player's eyes sometimes changes. I'm guessing it's not a new variation, but I find it an interesting print error nonetheless. Who knows maybe "The Googly Eye" will be the next ghost or miscut collector craze. Below is an example of two Billy Campbells. One looking to the left and the other looking straight ahead. This isn't just a single card phenomenon either. There are other Campbells listed on ebay right now that show his eyes looking either way: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1909-T206-71-Billy-Campbell-Common-Back-Deans-Cards-2-GOOD-8082-/400666223278?pt=US_Baseball&hash=item5d499162ae

I'm just curious if anyone out there has discovered "The Googly Eye" with any other T206 players? Thoughts?

BTW the "Googly Eyed" Campbell I posted came from a screengrab of a card that was bought on ebay a couple of months ago. It's a pretty distinctive card as it has a miscut that has Campbell's name up top as well as Campbell's eyes looking to the left. I really wanted that card and for some reason missed out on it. If any Net54 member happened to snatch it up on ebay a few months back, I'll gladly buy it off of you :D. I find it really interesting.

The "googly eye" is just a common print offset. You can see it in his hat also.
I do not have any T206's with it but collect print offset cards from the 50's-80's. I have several including a recently acquired Carlton Fisk rookie posted in post war card forum.

Another way to collect T206. The "googly eye" subset collection!!

I've seen many Gavvy Cravaths with the "googly eyes".

It's basically a result of the printing process. Each color has its own print run. When the black is run, if the sheet isn't properly alligned, the eyes come out funky. It's probably the same reason the E90-1 Joe Jackson has such a problem with the red for Joe's lips being printed too high and looking like a red Hitler 'stache.

When I first read the title of this thread, this card came to mind right away. What's wrong with Jack? :D

It's like he had the sudden realization he was playing in New Jersey...;)

For a short time, cards with double eyes were getting a premium, but that died off big time. Casey/Montreal was a popular one to find, but now there is no extra value. I had a nice Flanagan and offered it up on the BST, but there were no takers, so I kept it.

:D That's funny- It's hard to understand what that artist was thinking. Here's one I've shown a bunch of times already, but he's got the googly eye thing going on;

Sincerely, Clayton
