I like to collect players from Texas and I'm curious if anyone knows of a resource that allows users to search Negro League players by state of birth.

If not, who comes to your mind regarding Negro League players from Texas?

So far I have: Rube Foster, Willie Foster, Willie Wells, and Smokey Joe Williams.

I'm not sure where you could find a list like that, but Henry McHenry comes to mind. I believe he was born in Houston.

If you go to baseball-reference.com and look up Negro League teams, you can find team rosters that show place of birth.

Just for the 1940 Negro National League, I see Texans Homer Curry, Jesse Walker, Zolie Wright, Biz Mackey, Henry McHenry, and Roy Parnell. You'll need to go through each
team in each league year-by-year.

See http://www.baseball-reference.com/nlb/league.cgi for a list of links to leagues.

Thanks for the info guys! I actually had an exchange on Twitter with the president of the NLBM on the topic before I posted. I'm hoping for a summer trip to KC to go to the museum and catch a game.
