Topps Cello Packs question

My first Topps Cello pack were 1973. The front had printing on it-Topps Baseball, the 25 cent proce, and the stick of bubble gum. I see that early Cello had nothing on the front, I wounder why? No company ad, no price. Anyone know why? And when did Topps then change to things printed on the package.

1970-1972 Topps Baseball cello's were issued in a box, thus nothing was printed on the cello itself.

Yes, the earlier cellos were sold within a box that was akin to a card deck box. It had the advertising on it and an open window pane area that allowed a glimpse of the top card.

OK. I Did buy a 1972 pack that was in the cardboard box. That is called a cello? So let's say I go on ebay and there is a 1966 Topps cello pack up for sale. How was it originally sold? I will see it slabbed and graded. So was it originallly sold in that cardboard box with the cut-out?

As Savedfromyspokes shows, that is the 1972 pack I remember buying. Why is it called a cello. There was a cello inside the box? And like my previous question, were all cellos sold within those small boxes back in the 1950's-1960's? . To add to my Q-why are these cello packs, that are removed from the boxes not seen with their boxes. Man, I need an education. This keeps me up at nights. Thanks to all-Tom

Just my opinion, but buying graded vintage cellos in general is a very risky proposition.

The exterior boxes were often discarded. When it was decided to grade them, the decision was made to not require the box-- likely because that would greatly limit the possible submissions.

The cards were indeed wrapped in cello within the cardboard box.

I thank all for your replys. i am not looking to buy anything. Just wondering about cellos. How they sold in------let's say----1958, How did Topps sell them., How did the local candy store sell them. In 1973 I went to the local Sweet Shop. There was the cello pack with the wrap with the words. "Topps Baseball Cards". "25 cents". "1 stick of bubble gum inside". My question is this: How were 1958 cellos sold? But I see older cellos with no markings on the package.
