Hey Folks
Earl (SGC Customer Service Manager) reached out and asked if I could post a message for them concerning them being closed today, as they are closed. I am happy to do so and here is a further response.....

Hi Leon, weather permitting, we should reopen tomorrow unless something more prevents that. We are getting a heavy dose of snow right now and since most of us commute a long distance. Management wanted to take precautions and close today. Just let everyone know we expect to be back open tomorrow with regular office hours.

EARL

Net54 has officially become my weather alert system.

I work 5 minutes from the SGC offices, but I'm in a windowless conference room today. I was under the impression the snow shouldn't pick up until 2-3PM. Well, I saw this thread and I checked outside, it's really coming down here...

I'm going home.

Barry,

We have had enough cold and snow in Maine so far this winter. Feel free to stop any storms in New York from coming north bound.

Many thanks,

Patrick

It's cold out west too. It will barely hit 80 today and the low is in the high 40s. I'm worried that the swimming pool will freeze over! :D

There's a lot of snow everywhere these days Patrick, but I know Maine gets hit particularly hard.

Got down to 74 in San Diego yesterday. Too soon to put away the parkas and thermals. :D

It's the west coast sissies who started it all. They think 12" of snow is that the town truck drives by and drops a cubic foot in your driveway:D

I had to close a window as the gulf breeze brought it down to 70 or so.
It is supposed to freeze tonight---somewhere.

all the best,
barry

Dead still, deep snow cover, no wind, just 56 below. GD cold - was in Prestone anti-freeze commercial for years. You could and I did spit ice cubes from the second floor window. I remember it fondly here in 75 degree Miami.

While putting myself through college and for a while after college, I spent six years working at a grocery distribution center for a regional supermarket chain here in eastern Pennsylvania. I cannot express strongly enough how quickly I learned to hate snowstorms and the media fueled panic that people would trapped in their houses for weeks without milk, bread and eggs.

On the day before a snowstorm, the size of store orders to the warehouse dairy for milk and eggs would instantly triple or quadruple. Things would be so overwhelming on the day before a snowstorm that managers and buyers who I had never in my life seen on the warehouse floor would take off their ties and dress shirts and come into the 36-degree dairy cooler to pick orders of milk, juice and eggs.
