Bought it in November but it got hung up at my local post office for nearly a month until it finally made its way to me on Monday:

Adam,

Nice pickup on the Meyers' Darby chocolates. I was tempted to bid myself but decided I was already over budget this year. I'm glad I didn't help jack up the price on you.

Congrats,

Few pickups I got from Sterling's last auction...

Got my first PSA 7 Goudey for my 34 Set. Also one of new favorite cards in my collection. I also snagged a 38 Goudey for my set. One lot I just had to score was the N28/N29 lot of 12. Rough shape cards but I don't care just love the Ginter stuff. Backs are rough but the fronts aren't as bad. Sending them out to SGC to be graded. Yea they will come back with a low grades but they look so much better when they are encapsulated.

3 new ones. I like the ZeeNuts where you can see the front of the jersey. The Otey is downgraded for an erased pencil mark on back. Charlie Duke, the 10th of 12 men to walk on the moon. Those guys are REAL heroes to me. My only post war card unless I get the other 2 moonwalkers from that set (Mitchell & Aldrin).

For sheer cojones per capita there aren't braver men than the ones who were willing to sit on top of a rocket then fly a quarter of a billion miles through space each way in a vehicle with the computer power of an old lap top to guide them, and then step onto the surface of an unknown environment where one misstep = death.

Here's a neat cabinet photo I just snagged. What I wouldn't give for that big circular shaped Piedmont box display in the back ground. Looks to be some sort of convention. The Piedmont banner runs the entire length of both booths. Cabinet measures out at 12 x 14.

I know this is seemingly not the splashy pickup, but to me, this is one of my best cards. The thick and dead centered borders on this baby ooze eye appeal, to me. And the image is bright and clean.

Some of the most serendipitous spider wrinkles ever conspire to make this baby a relatively cheap 1.5!

Bear in mind that the left inner ridge of the holder is obscuring but a sliver of the left edge.

I've shopped for this card for some time, and these full even borders just called out to me ;)

Brian,

Here is what I have been able to decipher from the back of the card:

"Most prominent movie actors and actresses in the country. We have made up an album which will hold the complete (obliterated) On receipt of 15 cents (obliterated) will send a blank album to any address in the United States.

Then on the last line it seems to indicate "Confectionery Company."

I spoke with one member and am in the process of contacting another on this card. The one member indicated an eBay lot which has the exact same wording on the back with the exception of the "confectionery" part.

Here is the link (yes, I bought the other item as well):

George--how is this? The image is not as sharp as I might like, but it is pretty neat.

Much better...thanks! That's a great piece...I could swear I've seen this somewhere before (probably on here) some time ago and always thought it was a great image. If you ever obtain more information on the team, I'd love to hear about it.

Jay, that looks awesome but can you post a clearer picture?

Very cool Mack Woodcut!! I didn't even know that existed!!

As for Jay's photo, you always know it's one of his with that requisite finger in each and every photo.

Picked up this cool item for my catcher collection. My birthday happens to be in July as well.

Cool ad on back as well. Card is postcard size with great color and design. Produced by the Strobridge Litho company which is well known for it's circus litho posters.

No correction needed. Though he played for the Giants, Titcomb was a true Yankee, born in Maine, raised in Haverhill, MA, and died in NH.

Yea I have Marty. I am trying to complete the set fast well faster than I originally wanted to. Plus some of the deals I have recently been getting is just to good to pass on. I am sure there will be others to come in the near future. Now only if I can score some more 38 goudey's haha

Hey John,
I can't agree with your comment right at this moment, but hopefully, I'll be in a position to agree with it come Super Bowl Sunday morning, assuming that a certain collector with deeper pockets than me doesn't decide he can't live without the WaJo card you know I covet! :D
Best,
Val

Many thanks in advance. Just be sure to tie him up in such a way that he can't use his keyboard, especially if his computer is in his basement! ;)

Can't wait to see your set come together as well. I am focusing right now on trying to obtain a nice Greenberg for my set and a few of the higher number ones. But hey that doesn't mean I won't be trying to pick up others. There is a nice 5 chuck Klein on the site here for sale I'd pick it up but it's sgc. Anyway can't wait to see what you have coming in.

For a couple of my buddies who I know never venture over to the Post War thread (which has been live lately, swing on by!). Others please forgive the Post War post in these here parts; no offense intended.

I was after one of these SO, SO BADLY; all I ever dreamed of was decent centering OR registration/focus. Never thought I'd get both in one card.

MattyC, yes, looks like a 5 but a couple of wrinkles under the old the magnifier. So, for me, perfect card--looks fantastic, great centering, and price down due to wrinkles you can't see....

Hey Wonka John, whether it's because you carried out your "plan" (most likely! :D) or it's because I outbid you know who for the first time ever for a rare/scarce WaJo card (not likely!), I am PUMPED at having won the 1921 Herpolsheimer WaJo in last night's LOTG Auction!!! I'll show this card in the LOTG pick-up thread. Thanks for the encouragement you gave me to go for it!

BTW, I love the fabulously strong images on all of the OJs that you have picked up lately. I have 70+ OJs of Washington players, and I don't think any one of mine has an image as strong as any of yours!
Best,
Val
