Let's have a look at your Yuengling beer....oops, I meant BB cards

The oldest and longest continuous operating Brewery in the U.S. was started in Pottsville, Pennsylvania. In 1829, David G. Yuengling (a German immigrant)
founded this Company.

During the "Prohibition" years, while many breweries shut down, the Yuengling brewery stayed in business by branching out into the Dairy market. In 1928
Yuengling included BB cards with their ice cream products.

I bought an original collection of about 65-70 of these not too long ago, and one of the things which struck me was the size of the cards were all over the place. Original factory-cut cards with giant borders, narrow borders, etc - quality control on these wasn't all that great from my experience!

a complete and two near complete sets that walked into the local mall's comic book shop. Would be a nice find cards are supposedly in nice condition as well. I was out of town and the individual would not give the shop owner any personal information. If I succeed in locating Ill be sure to post the find.

The first Yuengling and one of the first pre-war cards I obtained. (FWIW... I'm slowly working on a set (16/60) and looking for lower grade examples) ;)

Unlike many prohibition brewers-turned-ice-cream-makers who stopped making ice cream shortly after the end of prohibition, Yuengling continued to make ice cream into the 1980s. I remember stopping by the retail "parlor" on West Market in the late '70s a number of times. And Yuengling will be getting back into the ice cream business as well (see http://www.yuenglingsicecream.com/), with the really good news being that Leiby's will be the ones actually producing the ice cream under the Yuengling name. Who knows, maybe they'll start packaging cards again. :)

I heard the same thing in the news, pertaining to Yuenglings producing ice cream again. I thought it an interesting tie into what we collect. I have seen a few more of the cards on the market lately. Maybe they will get some originals and make a game of it again :)
