Hi Nelson,

Although there was no actual card issued by Topps, there is a 1954 Sports Illustrated Mantle issue, which I believe Topps played a part in--they look like Topps cards. They are designed like regulate cards but printed on thin stock and have to be hand cut. They are a real bargain as far as 50s Mantles go, primarily because PSA does not grade them yet. I got an intact magazine with all inserts in NM/M for around 100 a few mints ago. I'd imagine the price will sky rocket as PSA will inevitably grade them. So, I'd recommend grabbing one sooner rather than later if you are interested.

Nelson,
Just a little more info for you. The page you are interested in features the 1954 Yankees team. The players that had Topps cards show their actual 1954 Topps card. The players that did not (ie: Mantle) show a black and white version of a generic 1954 card. These cards have backs on them too, but are printed on a slightly thicker, more glossy paper. The bad part is that these cards come from the 2nd ever issue of Sports Illustrated which features a row of golf bags at the 1954 Masters tournament. This is the toughest Sports Illustrated to find and obtain. In the online generation you will be able to find one, but ask a lot of questions and make sure the insert is in very nice shape. Good luck with your hunt. Jason
