Anyone understand or know WHY in 1933 goudey printed 2 Gehrig and foxx card with the exactly same picture but different number ?

I can understand 2 cards of the same player in a set but with different pose
I can understand the same card printed on 2 differents sheet of a set , double printed but with the same number.. like the Ruth DP in the 33 goudey set

The answer to your question is not complicated.....just like in the T206 set.....the popular BB players of that era were extra printed.

Besides Gehrig and Ruth, here are some more 1933 Goudey extra prints......

Cronin
Foxx
Goslin
Hornsby
Hubbell
Manush
O'Doul
Ott
Terry

and, players who were in the 1933 World Series (printed on the last 24-card sheet).

Moore
Schulte
Schumacher
Stewart

yep Ted i know that....

but all other player like in the t206 set have different pose...

ruth 4 different card... ott 2 different card...

Normally when the same card is on 2 different sheet or present 2 time on the same sheet it is a DP like the ruth DP or the 52 mantle...

but in goudey the foxx and the gehrig isthe exactly same card but with only different number...

Why double print cards when you can add to the "size" of the set by changing the numbers on the back?

I dont mind if they use the same picture but at least change the background color, but this making 2 identical Gehrigs is absurd. I have all the 1933 Goudey Yankees except I only own one of the two Gehrigs, and as far as i am concerned, my team set is complete. I see no need to have two identical cards that just had a different number printed on the back, not when its such an expensive card.
