Buried by the World Series & College Football yesterday: Darrel "Bubba" Wallace Jr. became the first African American driver to win a NASCAR event since Wendell Scott in 1963. Congratulations to a talented young driver.

Purchased this autographed 1:24 diecast after he won the pole at Dover earlier this year. He normally drives the #54 Camping World Truck, but raced the #20 Nationwide car in one race in 2012. He'll be in THE SHOW soon....

Very Good! I'm not a nascar fan, but good for him.

Sorta mixed feelings.

The headline should be "great young driver wins first Nascar race"

Until the distinctions stop being made -even for good reasons- there's still a problem.

Must say I'm disappointed by the tepid responses. The Scott & Wallace families probably feel differently. At least Darrell Wallace Jr. was able to stand in victory lane, Wendell's trophy from 1963 was awarded posthumously.
