Ed "Battleship" Greminger played Major League baseball 4 years (1895, 1902 - 1904). He was a big guy, over 6 ft. and weighed over 200 lbs. With Buffalo (Eastern
Association) in 1897, he batted .309 and led the Bisons with 8 HR's. These cards reflect his 1909 season. Ed was the player-Manager of the Montgomery Climbers
in the Southern Association.

Shown here are 5 tobacco cards of which American Litho printed the same image of Greminger. I think there are more BB cards of Greminger with this same image.
If you have them, please post them here...... Thanks

Mike

The RED SUN, and the three T206's (HINDU, OLD MILL, and PIEDMONT) cards are mine.

The printer's scrap scan of Greminger was given to me circa 5 years ago.

Best regards ole buddy,

An earlier portrait of Greminger is on the left side of this 1898 Bison's pin..

Greminger also appears in the T213-1 Coupon series and I have been looking for one for a long time. Have lots to trade.

Not a card. Is that Greminger in the center of this photo?

Nice photo....and, the guy in the center of it may be Ed Greminger. Greminger was the player-Manager
of the Montgomery Climbers (Southern Association) during the 1908 - 1910 seasons.

Is there a date on this photo ? And, is it indeed the Montgomery team ?

Thanks for posting,

I wonder what, if anything, the red overstrike on the brown Old Mill back might suggest about printing. Were the brown Old Mills seen as mistakes and used as scrap? Thoughts?

My theory is....the Brown HINDU's and the SWEET CAP 150 Factory #649 overprints of the group of 34 subjects (Matty, Johnson, Lajoie, Bresnahan, Griffith, etc.)
were printed simultaneously. Furthermore, the 150-series subjects of 34 - Southern Leaguers were also in this printing timeline.

In this process, the printer's at American Litho., prior to the above press runs, tested their inks and printing plates......resulting in the brown OLD MILL cards, and
the red overprints.

I don't think that any of these printer's scrap were ever shipped to Factory #649 to be included in HINDU or SWEET CAPORAL cigarette packs.

Thanks for the information on your photo. I would agree that the guy in the center of this photo is Ed Greminger.

Hey Jeremy, or Rob McK, or anyone......

We have seen most of the Ed Greminger cards with this familiar image.....however, missing in action here is the 1910 COUPON card of him ?

Greminger's T213-1 card is a toughie. But, I have his Red Sun card on display; and, I don't think you can get much tougher than that card.

Ted Z,

Nice T211 Greminger. I don't have the Greminger in T210, T211 or T213-1. For T213, SGC shows 1 graded 30 and PSA has one 1. Plus, any raw examples that may be floating around.

Another of the 5 T213-1's that I am missing is of Hub Hart. The TPG's call him "Jimmy", and although his first name is James, I believe he went by "Hub" as there was another contemporary minor league player called Jimmy Hart.

Here are Hub's T210 and T211, which shows a portrait, unlike his T206 fielding pose.
