I picked up 2 Programs and 2 Ticket stubs for the Final game played by the New York Giants - Sept 29th vs Pittsburgh.

Anyone have any idea of the value of these?

1 Program is MINT - the other it appears to be signatures, so I am unsure what the deal is and hope these are legit

Anyway I picked these up yesterday at Auction and was wondering if (1) anyone would have an idea of expected value for these items and (2) if anyone would have interest in buying/trading for them

If you could post pictures of both the tickets and the programs, that would be helpful.

Please include pictures of the backs of the tickets, BTW. Are the programs/scorebooks scored or unscored? Are they dated in any way within the scorebook? Could you take a photo of the score page?

Scott - I will work on this when I get home :)

Here is a pic - when I dug this out and looked, the more I look at it the more I think these autos might be ok - thoughts?

Thanks for posting the pictures of the programs and tickets.

The writing on the front of the scorebook on the right is actually a list of many of the ex-Giants dignitaries that were in attendance that night, not autographs. I suspect that the patron wrote these on the front of the scorebook as they were announced.

FYI, here is a list of the dignitaries that were known to be present at the last game at NY Giants:

Jack Doyle (Ex Giants Mgr.)
Red Murphy
George "Hooks" Wiltse
George Burns
Moose McCormick
Hans Lobert
Larry Doyle
Rosy Ryan
Rube Marquard
Carl Hubbell
Hal Schumacher
Billy Jurges
Monte Irvin
George Davis
Willard Marshall
Sid Gordon
Buddy Kerr
Babe Young
Johnny Rucker
Henry Thompson
81 year old George Levy broght the megaphone that he used for announcing for many years
John McGraw's widow received a bouquet of American Beauty roses from Bill Rigney

The scorebooks and tickets look to be in nice shape. The value of one of these tickets to the last game at NY Giants is about $500 in the condition exhibited.
One of these sold in REA's auction recently for $533. As far as the value of the scorebook, I'm going to defer to Doug Goodman on net54. Doug would be an excellent resource to determine value as this is right in his wheelhouse.

I hope this helps!

scott -

thanks for the info!

Glad to hear they had that much value - it was at an antique auction and this was the only sports item - i had a feeling it was a pretty good lot and hoped I was correct!

Again, I very much appreciate it and hopefully Doug will help on the score cards!

Hi guys -

I paid $375 for my copy of this program, which is scored, just the way I like them.

I feel like I overpaid, but it's scored pretty well, so it was hard to pass on.

The ticket stubs are possibly worth more than the scorecards, if you can find the right person who's looking for one.

I think that the market tends to bounce back and forth between preferring scored or unscored for significant games like this one. I would think that your scorecards/tix would each be worth somewhere between $150 and $500, depending on which way the wind is blowing.

Doug

PS - I love that one with all the names listed on the cover.

Thanks Doug -

So you are guessing 150-500 each? not as a lot right? Just thought I would double check

Yes, that's my guess, but it all depends on if you get lucky with a buyer. On average, I would bet low end of those numbers.

The stubs will sell quicker, probably.

Those are very nice items and if some things that are coming up for auction weren't, I would be interested in one of each. They would go nicely with the two items I own relating to that game

Letter from Horace Stoneham to Hans Lobert inviting him to come to the game

Plaque given to Lobert, and all the guest dignitaries, commemorating the last Giants game at the Polo Grounds.

If you are interested in trading for one of each, shoot me a PM and let me know what you're looking for.

Best,
Mark

Hi Net 54 Community

I am new to this site and I am very much enjoying learning from everyone.

Purchased this item through auction and wanted to get a sense of the current value.

The scorecard is autographed by Mrs. John J. McGraw. I have attached a picture.

Thank you in advance. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cool items. Retail at this current moment, you can expect to get between 300-500 for the pair.

Good Luck

I think Stephen is about right.

Individually I would bet that the ticket goes higher than the program.

I'm not an autograph guy, so the auto doesn't add anything for me, but obviously for the right buyer it would.
