This reminds me of the Joe Jackson autographed ball that is being sold as a replica. This thing is scary good...Maybe not to an expert but probably to almost anyone else...

But ya gotta worry about the winning bidder perhaps marketing it as an original

Leon,
Your right this guy makes up all kind of pins. As for the cameo pepsin one by adding the back paper definetely makes for alot more deception. But he states that the pin is 1 inch in diameter and REAL ones are 1 1/4 to 1 3/8 inches in size.
Oh and by the way that is my 1000 post! How fitting it was to be done on cameo pepsins!!

Very fitting for number 1000 Al !! And I would venture to guess 0 people who aren't experts or serious hobbyists know the actual size of these. A one inch one would be just as good as a 1.25 inch one to almost anyone (except the aforementioned). I think what got me thinking it was better than usual is the back tag.

Absolutely! That back tag changes to me anyway the whole replica or real problem. I could definitely see someone buying this and then trying to pass it off as a real copy. As we know if there is a way to try and make money in this hobby someone is always going to try to do it at someones expense.

This quote shows how you know there are not many women on this board. Or maybe it's just my juvenile sense of humor coming out.

Jason,
Always remember size matters no matter what the venue!:D:D;);)

Not a bad ending price for the pin first noted. And here is another. These will eventually end up being sold as "not known if real so sold as is"

Here is one from 1898 of the Buffalo Bison's team...

The replica's do look very realistic from the scans, but it does help a lot that they are not re-created at the correct size.

Here is a few pins I bought a few years back. I went to an online button website, picked out the size, uploaded a high resolution photo, and for a couple bucks apiece pretty cool pieces.

Wouldn't that be cool to find a real stash like this? Holy moly.....the picture looks cool. Thanks for posting.
