Thoughts on this Joe Jackson......

I am not very familiar with this set, but it seems to me that there would be no reason that a card like this would not be at the very least slabbed authentic if it was real.

Just my opinion, but it appears to be a fake.

Borders look too large, and the black outline appears to be thicker and darker than on original. I'm not sure if its the scan or not, but the coloring appears too dark as well.

Like you pointed out, why isn't it graded beforehand? Obvious red flag.

If it were real (and it isn't), it would be a candy card, not a tobacco card.
Of course ten years ago this bit of info was unknown obviously.

The seller is behind the times. Sellers nowadays describe these as...

The front is suspect. However, the usual tell-tail clue on these E90-1 REPRINTED cards is a MARK on the back that is located in the upper left between
the lettering "100" and "BASE".

Fair Warning......on this one that area is scratched out in order to remove this MARK.

Furthermore, these E90-1 Reprints are smaller in size than the real E90-1 cards. But, of course, there is no way of seeing the difference by these scans.

I don't have enough knowledge to pass judgment on this one--other than it looks wrong.

Quick question for Ted--is the "mark" consistent on the reprints from this set, and what does it look like? I have a Lajoie that I have presumed was a reprint for a long time and it has what appears to be the numerals "20" in the space between 100 and Baseball.

Essentially that's the "Mark" I am alluding to. But, I have also seen variations of it.

Furthermore, if you have a real E90-1....compare it with your Lajoie, and notice that the Lajoie is somewhat smaller than the real E90-1 card.

Ya, its an aged Larry Fritsch (sp) reprint card. The "20" on the upper left is scratched off then water damaged...a nice touch.

It will fool somone on eBay.
