Looks like Hammonds is the closest casino with poker to the Nationals, anyone been there before? Thinking of going after the dinner Friday night and was wondering how much of a pain it is to drive there. Also if anyone knows of a game that might happen to break out in someones room or somewhere and they need a fish to fill out the game I'm all ears.

..is a bit of a drive/hassle. Check-out Rivers Casino and see if they have Poker Tables. They're in Des Plaines, right down the road a mile or two from the Donald E. Stephens.

Hmmm, that may be - was not aware. Hammond is southeast, you have to go through the city, which on a Friday night may not be that big of an issue..? If ChiSox play that night, it could be.

The Rivers casino in Des Plaines is 5 minutes away but does not have a poker room. Since it is close to O'hare/Rosemont it is usually crowded.

Nearest poker room is the Grand Victoria Casino in Elgin. It's 25 miles west of O'hare/Rosemont on I-90.

It's very possible I'll be going to the National, and if that does indeed end up happening, I'd be interested. I can't claim fishhood though! It was my """"job"""" for about 6 years. I miss playing, if only for fun.

Nate, were you an online or live player? I've played as a side income off and on for the last 6 years and I'm just about to go full-time for the next 6 months or so. I'm a live small stakes nl cash guy.

Hell I might be a "little" less fishy then I claim. :p Im staying at same hotel the dinner is at. I don't know the layout of my room or how big or small it is but might not be against getting a game started if enough interest.

to play poker now and again. I'll be at 405P(?) Glenn Mechanick's table waiting for a limo to take me to the game if you have one - like they do for me in Florida :-)

I won't be attending the National, but if there are any poker players from northern Virginia who might wish to join a long-standing game please let me know.

Lol. That reminds me of the time about 5 years ago at a casino a guy that already donated about 4 buy-ins to the table was going to leave and we each paid him $20 a piece to stay. He dropped another 2 buy-ins before leaving for good.

or should I say "bigger" game where I generally go to play is predicated on a player or two feeding the pots - when they go - so goes the game. It happens a few times a week in the "pit". One day at our PLO 8 game - our room in south florida is one of the few places in the country where one can play high/low omaha @ pot limit betting - we conspired to prank a former tour pro that likes to play in our game (of course). When he got up to go to the window and cash in - we all got up and left the table! His OCD/ADD/WHATEVER made it funny as for at least a few minutes we had him going............ Now shut up and deal :-)

I wont keep clogging the board with this thread. Everyone has had a chance to read it by now I would say. Anyone else interested in starting a game somewhere the Friday night of the Nationals after the dinner or driving to a casino can PM me and if we can get 5 or so people interested Ill have a new deck of cards with me. See everyone at the Nationals and the dinner. Thanks.
