I purchased this in 1998 from Buywiser Collectibles out of Rhode Island, and I have offered it for sale in the B/S/T section. I think it good, but with a question in that forum, I wanted to offer it here for opinions of those with greater experience than mine before I try to sell it (trying to thin out my collection). Any help is appreciated.

Many thanks,
Jay

If it's legit, it's a very hurried auto and won't match up very well to the normal Erving (full) signature. Probably why someone thought it looked off.

Thank you, Greg, for your input. I appreciate it. Anyone else have anything on this? Looking to see if it is good or not.

I'm thinking someone who gives you an opinion that has a drjstuff we site might be considered an expert in dr j stuff, but that's just me.

true, but he didnt say if he could tell if it is good, just IF, so he is looking for more opinions, I don't blame him.

Just from looking at other dr. j's and would not buy this one.

Thank you for the feedback, Shelly and Travis. Just looking for the best opinions, which is why I posted here. I trust your judgement collectively. So far, I have a "no" and a "maybe" but rushed, correct?

Thank you all again for your time, consideration, and expertise.

Any others?

Thank you.

I posted on the other forum, but I still think it is not authentic. Doesn't look like any Dr. J autographs I have seen over the past 20 years.

The one above would fall into my "Do Not Buy" category. That can range from one I'm certain is fake, to one I'm certain is legit, but I just don't care for the looks of it.

The one below I bought, simply because I wanted the photo. I think I could make a better case (based on characteristics) for it being a hurried Erving auto, but it's pretty bad too. Honestly, it would also fall into "Do Not Buy", but I wanted the HOF display photo.

Not an expert but I am THE official authenticator for myself :D

Thanks for all the feedback, and thank you, Greg. I will consider this non-authentic and just file it away in the back corners of my collection. One of the few that I have in my collection purchased from a dealer and not obtained in person. I have also removed it for sale on the B/S/T section.

Thank you again for the help.

If this helps for comparison. I got this in Person in the early 80's going in the back entrance to the Sahara Hotel... Showed him how to get to the casino and played several blackjack hands with him. He is and was a GREAT GUY!

It was on the back of a business card that was in my wallet for a few years and has been "swimming" several times. Sold it a couple years ago for less than 20.00.
