I just got called to come take a look at an item....well low and behold it is an old scoreboard out of the inside of a bar....it is 8' long and 4' high.... i am kicking the tires on the purchase price...we werent that far off...

anyway, i would GREATLY appreciate your opinions and thoughts on this - both in terms of overall quality and any help with expected value would be appreciated!!!!!

Thanks a lot guys!!! I did think the frame was pretty neat and kind of made the piece...

8 ft x 4 ft...I can see why you're not rushing into it as that's a lot of real estate....architectural....On my monitor it measures about 3 1/2" wide X 1 1/2" tall....so it's kind of hard to fully appreciate....yes it does look cool....but there isn't a lot of important information on it...it'll take a special buyer...a tough sell I think...like I say I can't see it real well but from what I can see even if it were free it looks like something that will be hard to move...But the folk art idea is certainly there....now if you were looking for siding or roofing material!....good luck

thanks for the thoughts...its huge - i was going to probably put it on a wall in my man cave....

however, i offered 600 and they refused....they originally wanted 850 - then went to 750....i walked away.....i told them had it been a standings board with wood slats with teams, or had mlb and team logos on the board, etc then i would have bought it immediately.... it does have a real cool folky look in person - much better than the pictures....but i thought my 600 was more than fair ....i hated to walk away, but i may have to

i figured it would be a great item to sell to a sports bar.... but i do think it'd look cool down in the man cave.... as you can see i continue to kick the tires on it

I think it is to generic. Not worth a lot of money.

It's pretty cool, but I don't think worth anywhere near what they are asking. Probably not as old as you might think too. Room for 24 teams on that board puts it post 1967.

Definitely walk away. IOt is too generic. I wouldn't give a hundred bucks for it.

thanks guys, that is exactly what i felt about it being too generic - exactly what i told them too... i offered 600 simply because i thought it would look cool....

i assumed 40s or 50s but 60s might be right - esp when you mentioned # of teams... i think someone custom framed it with an older frame that made it look older too....

i just wish it had actual logos or names, etc... i did think it was cool that the board included the battery for each game...

While it lacks historical significance and team names, it does have the leagues, so it isn't a completely generic piece for any sport. I would buy it as a decorative item/conversation piece for $300-$400. Hell if you went to a department store you couldn't buy a fake painting 1/2 that size for less. I like the font of the leagues and the fact that you will NEVER see another. I don't have the wall space to devote to it in my current office, but if I did I would be all over it.

I agree with Mike.

Additionally, since it is a chalk board, you could always add in the post 1967 teams to make it less generic looking. I think it would add a lot of flavor to a man cave, FWIW...

Neat item and in the right Man Cave would be a real cool wall hanger.

Problem would be for me, if you had $750.00 to spend, is it really worth more than something else you could get?

That's what kills it. You could find a much cooler item for your mancave/collection than a Chalkboard at that price

Agreed...$750 is too much.

now they are willing to do 600....

it becomes much more enticing around the 600 range than 750 to me haha....

i still would have preferred my original 500 offer, then in a weak moment in person up'd to 600 and they refused.... i rejected the 750, now they are willing at 600 if i still am....

gahhhh decisions :)

No decision. PASS. You made a mistake offering $600 for that item, and they let you off the hook by not taking it. Now they realize there mistake and are trying to collect the $600. Don't jump back on the hook. I agree with what someone else said. That item is worth $100-$200 tops.

Another vote to pass...lots of cool things you could get for $200 much less $600.

not vintage and not aesthetic as there are no graphics. I would draw the line 300.00 and would think a bit less more reasonable. Still a neat piece for a modern and "uncluttered" collection with a LOT of space and only you can decide it's value.

If I was trying to decorate a room, I'd be a buyer at $500-600.
