1948 Swell Sports Thrills Counterfeits Help Please

I purchased a set of 1948 Swell cards and they came back questionable authority by PSA. My question is why were they deemed unauthentic?

I wanted to add the yellow tint is from the scanner. They are more of a very light brown.

Did you buy them as originals? The set has been re-printed. The images do seem a bit grainy. Here is a link to a set sold.

Yes I bought them as originals in an auction and the auction had even claimed several thousand in book value for the set. I had never seen any of these up close before, but I was aware of the white reprints. These are more of a light tan color and the paper looked old. The grainy blotchy photos were probably the key that I ignored. I saw one other set like this with the blotches sell for over a thousand on ebay along time ago. I now keep these for comparison in case I ever purchase any more 1948 Swells.
