Total 230 000$ + juice = 272 550$

Last 8.5 sold in 2010 for a little over 154 000$

That is a HUGE increase!!! I think the Mick deserves this type of price increase for such a nice looking card!!!

He was just making a comment. Our Adrian gets a little excited but I sure wish everyone on this board were as nice as him, seriously.

Adrian, what were you after in REA?

My medications knocked me out at around 10h45pm (took them to late yesterday because I wanted to be more active because of the REA so ended up taking them around 5h00pm instead of the normal noon hour) usually I can stay up till about 1h00am but yesterday my eyes just could no longer stay awake....my luck some times!!

I was able to add 3 new PSA 8 items to my Mantle master set so I was quite happy this morning finding them on Ebay!!

Adrian---the price for this card is even more amazing when compared to Mantle's salary in 1952. From the 12-28-52 NY Times

That's an insane price for a '52T with such an abundant availabilty. But, It is iconic and has been for a long, long time and I love it. If I were to own 3 cards over $100k each, this would probably be one of them. Wags, Ruth and Mick. The E107 Matty and Wags might edge it out though.

For what it's worth - the '52T Mantle belongs on every baseball thread. It transcends any era, much like the Wags.

I feel the same way it is a VERY important card and should be allowed in any topic and category....he represents all that is baseball to my parents generation and to my own!!! He his the 1st reason I started to love the game and still is # 1 for me. I remember when my dad was alive he use to talk about the Mick with such pride in his eyes and my uncles to!!!

IMO the buyer of this card paid too much for it.

I think if he keeps for a few years he will find the right buyer or most likely buyers for it and turn a good profit. Top end 52 Topps Mantle have always done well and gone up in value over time. There only 3 PSA 10'S and 7 PSA 9'S and 2 PSA 8.5's so he will do well.

I am also a firm believer that a PSA 10 would command over 1$ million dollars at auction if one where to hit the market.

Yep, lots of craziness last night. I nearly scratched a new bald spot between 3:00 and 4:00

Even nuttier was the Gehrig/Ruth ball, and those two single-signed Wagner balls. Lots of late action

honestly in my opinion that 52 topps mantle 8.5 in rea looks better then most of the 9s i have seen scans of. who ever got that card got it at a great price. i remember like 15 years ago one of the 3 psa 10īs sold for what this 8.5 ended up going for

Like Leon said in another thread the 52 Topps has 1000's of them known (In all grades put together) but MILLIONS of collectors who want one so that card will be a great card in the future for sure!!!

Iconic card in a super high grade can't go wrong with that combination.

Last post for today have a good evening guys and for those who won yesterday enjoy your new stuff I went threw the pics of what guys posted from your wins and ALL you guys did very well and got some super stuff!!:)

I was sleeping like a baby by then with no bids to speak of. Sometimes I think the best view of this hobby is from the cheap seats.
