Caught up in doing colon and semi-colon research I guess!

I first heard of the T206 HINCHMAN semi-colon card when I read Keith Olbermann's article in Issue #9 of the VCBC/1997. He wrote an article named "HOW MANY CARDS IN THE T206 SET?"

In that article, he mentioned that he had a card of Bill Hinchman that had not a comma after his last name but a semi-colon. He stated: "...Whether the comma versions are corrections of this as an original mistake, or this is a random printer's flaw that just showed up on this one sheet, I couldn't tell you..."

So after reading this, I couldn't resist but to do my own research and obtain a good sampling of HINCHMAN cards to see what is really going on.

I present below my HINCHMAN semi-colon card. I invite all to search their collections and post scans of their HINCHMAN cards so that we can compare. After seeing a good cross section of scans, I then will produce scans of other HINCHMAN cards that I have; to reveal possibly the real truth about this card.

My scanner cut off the bottom of the card so this next scan should be better.

Yet another HINCHMAN with something going on right above the comma. Sure would be nice to get some comments before I post the rest.

Hey Craig. My lone example does not have the semi colon marking but does have a pronounced printers alignment mark that could potentially be causing the top dot marking you see

Same here. I have the same red alignment mark on one of mine (I currently have 2).

I have a printers line on bottom and top of mine.

Very nice gentlemen and here's a couple more.

The card on the right, the printer line is a bluish-green color where as the other's appeared to be brownish-black. The card on the right also at the very top center of the card, there is another printer line.

I would say that with so many of these HINCHMAN cards having print marks that were not cleaned up, if you have a high graded HINCHMAN that is completely clean of print lines; that it would hold some type of a premium.

While doing my research I ran across this double-namer (same name). It is a P150#25. Look closely at this beat up card and you can still see some type of print mark at the very top center.

Mine also has a very faint line above the comma.

Lots of the cards have the same partly erased alignment marks. Sometimes in multiple colors. Each different color could possibly have one.

I think those marks will eventually be another clue to sheet layouts.

I had a look for Hinchmans yesterday, since I don't have one yet. There are a few interesting things going on, including a slightly different sunset that might split between 150/350 like Conroys hat.

Is yours with the semicolon P150 with an odd mark on the back?

Here's my Hinchman, but it doesn't appear to have a semicolon.
