Here's another nice find I picked up last week. There are 4 complete sets, pluse about 6 additional singles, of the 1962 Auravision records. They are all in mint condition. The Mays and Mantle records are perfect. These happened to belong to an employee at Columbia Records, and they sat around for 50 years. Now the question, what are they really worth? Most people list the 64's as 62's, and these go unnoticed. Any thoughts?
Thank you.

Dave

My source for a lot of these oddball items is http://www.sportscollectorsdigest.com/mantlept8. The article just discusses the Mantle records but indicates that both were likely released in 1964. The version you have is the short printed version. At the time of the article--2009--it listed the price of the short print in the $100-150 range and the other issues in the $20 range. The author's pricing is usually pretty accurate. I pick up most of my items at a price close to his range.

Thanks! Most people selling these, especially on ebay, list them as the 62's when in fact the stats are up to 63.

Glad to relay some info. I've looked through some of the auctions, and it looks like prices have gone a little soft for these records since the article came out. Still really cool pieces though, so definitely a great find. I have one of the more common mantles and may frame/hang the thing if I ever get out of a 1 bedroom apartment and into a place with a man cave.

Dave: On your Mantle's in this lot what is his height listed as on the back? Check each one you have.

Height listed is 6.0 on each one. What is the significance? 5 mantles. unfortunately, one has the hole taken out.

There are three different versions of the Mantle Auravision. The 62 with man in the background, the 64 with sky, and a "hi bred" A 62 Mantle with a 64 back. They put a large sticker over top of the 62 back with stats through 63 where his height is listed as 5'11". Note that you can partially see the horizontal orange line under the punched out hole on the sticker that is missing on the sticker.
