I'm thinking about heading up tomorrow. Never been to white plains, how does it compare to Philly for prewar?

Never been to the Philly show, but in general things are pricy in WP. But something to do on a long weekend.

I’m gonna go with my son tomorrow AM.

Things are generally pricey, though I’ve gotten 1-2 nice deals in the past.

Going tomorrow, as per usual, though usually just see the same dealers with the same cards...

Bill Huggins and Matt Flores are there for Huggins and Scott, if anyone is interested in discussing consignments with them. They also have a number of the choice pieces from our upcoming auction that begins Monday and ends February 7th.
Have fun - I've always loved that show (going back to the "Glory" days of Gloria Rothstein).

I'm going for a bit tomorrow morning so all of you dealers please put the good stuff out for me. :)

Maybe we should have meet-up at noon.

I was there for an hour, it was typically lame. I had to drop off two cards for grading but then as I was leaving I spied a T213-1 Chase with a perfect back and decent front. Like a total miracle.

Asking price: $3,000?

I tried the Net 54 discount, my upcoming wedding, the recent flood in my basement, Obamacare -- and finally I got it down to only 20% more than what it was worth.

Nice to hear you knocked that one off your list. Congratulations.

Gosh, you are either being shill bid or gouged on the straight sale. The things you put up with...

It actually was a breeze, the seller was great. As long as I didn't have any consignors knowing what I was bidding on it, it went very smoothly.

Way to go.

Was the asking price really $3000? Did the guy have any other T213 for sale?

LOL no the asking price was $200! The seller was totally fair and a really decent guy.

He had mostly T206 with some rare backs and I was just stunned to see the Chase portrait -- and then saw the flip with 1910 and T213 on it. Really stunned. Moral of the story: what's rare to you can be chopped liver to another. And when you get your hands on it that chopped liver is as good as gold. I would have paid twice what he asked for it, I was just thrilled to have finally nailed that card.

200 was a great price for a T213-1 Chase. My guess is that it would sell for around $1000 at auction, maybe more.

I think I got two cards from the same guy. Was it Bill from BB sports towards the front?
I got a PSA3 E95 Chance and a Psa3 E90-1 marquard. $460 total, which seemed neither great nor horrible to me.
