My best pickup of 2012 was probably the 1933 Butter Cream Lefty Grove card with a September 1 back. I had been looking for one for more than 15 years. I had missed out on 2 in the past few years, but was able to snag this one a few months ago. Merry Christmas everyone!

By far, my best pick-ups ever, born October 3rd, Grace & William. After some initial post-delivery issues, all of us are doing fantastic.

And one of my favorite cardboard pick-ups of 2012 that is most kid-like.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Great pick ups everyone!

While I don't collect a lot of cards, I did have a number of very nice pick ups this year, but my favorite card pick up is the 1934 Goudey autographed by KiKi Cuyler.
It is not only my favorite because of what it is, but also because of how I got it.
I won't bore those of you who read the story on the autograph forum before, but here's a link (http://www.net54baseball.com/showpost.php?p=1062074&postcount=14) to the story if you're interested in reading it.

I hope everyone has a Great Christmas, New Year, Chanukah, and all the holidays celebrated this time of year. I wish you all a very healthy and prosperous 2013.

Best,
Mark

Great cards (and kids) everyone...my best pickup was the 1924 Zeenut Bernard of Vernon. I had been down to three cards to complete the 1924 set for about six years. Early in the year I was able to pick up a E.Baldwin from Mark M. (a PCL collector's best friend), and then come summertime he had the Paul Waner (a card I thought might forever elude me).

You would think the Waner would be my favorite pickup (it is a cool, pre-major league HOF'er and fairly tough card to come by)...then, why the Bernard is the favorite, you ask? Because when informed that I only needed one card to complete the 1924 set, he threw the Bernard in for free.

Thanks Mark for making my second job (vintage bb card collecting) that much easier.

The T3 Cobb was it for me this year (thanks, Craig), but the E93 Matty was pretty cool, too.

But in the collecting arena I was happy to pick up this Ferguson's Bakery Pillow top premium with Wagner, Mathewson, Johnson, Cobb, Alexander, Evers, Maranville etc.....One of two I have ever seen and the only one I have seen with Honus on it. it is approximately 21" x 23".

Fantastic cards everyone! My co-best pickups of 2012 are:

(1) This E222 A.W. H. Caramel blew my collecting budget for 2012, but I just can't resist scarce/rare cards of Virginia League players!

(2) This easy-on-my-budget T210-1 Old Mill card of "Oyster Joe" Martina thrilled me because I didn't know it existed until I stumbled across it in a Huggins & Scott Auction. One of my (far too many) collecting focuses is cards of the players of the 1924 Washington Senators World Series Champs, and I am striving to obtain at least one card of every player on this team; until I saw this card, I had thought that the only existing card of Martina is his 1924 Diaz Cigarettes (a scarce Cuban issue) card, which I've never seem and probably never will see!

Joe Martina was fortunate in that, at age 34, he was part of a championship team for his only year in the majors - he had a 6-8 won-loss record for the Senators during the regular season, and he appeared in one 1924 W. S. game, pitching one scoreless inning. But, amazingly, Martina pitched for 21 years in the minors, between 1910 and 1931, during which time he won a total of 349 games against 277 losses.

I never thought in my wildest dreams I would own a Gehrig autograph, let alone on a card as scarce, because of his short signing window.

And the Foxx I took a gamble and bought raw, looks like that turned out fine :)

Love this Wheat too

I was fortunate enough to pick up some good cards and memorabilia including a circa 1920s Cuban Stars photo with Eustaquio Pedroso pictured, but I was VERY fortunate to receive another blessing... My daughter McKinlee was born on December 17, 2012 at 4:44am.

Just picked up the Green Cobb to go along with the other 3.

I did the same with recently picking up my Green Cobb! It has been the toughest and spendiest Cobb of the 4. Although mine aren't 4s, they do however do well for there assigned grades.

If you send it to PSA you will get a mc qualifier. SGC just lowers the grade. Not having all of the bottom name is why it lowered the grade.

Just started collecting T206 over the summer, and I only have 18 so far. I have however tried to spread it out as far as the backs go. So far I have covered 3 out of 4 Piedmonts (guess which one I don't have):D. 3 out of 4 Sovereigns (guess which one I don't have):D. Tolstoi, Old Mill, EPDG, AB 350 w/ frame, Cycle 350 and Brown Hindu are the others. I've yet to pick up a Polar Bear, or a Sweet Caporal of any kind. More than half of my T206's were purchased right here on the Net 54 BST.

The Chase was one of my first purchases, the Lake is my toughest back to date. Honorable mention should go to a Willie Keeler portrait that I don't have a pic of. I don't have a scanner, and forgot to hijack one before it was deleted!

I don't post too much, but I just want to take a second to thank everyone here on Net54 who make this place possible/enjoyable. The mix of knowledge, passion, and kindness here is incredible. I wouldn't enjoy collecting these old cards half as much if it wasn't for this place. 2012 Was a great year for my collection. From T206 to 1990 Donruss Aqueous Test, and everything in between! Here is to an even better 2013 for all of us!

Now, on Monday night I want everyone to get drunk (except for you Wazoo!) But I don't want anyone to drive (including you Wazoo!) Have fun, and Happy New Year everybody!

Didn't pick up too many this year, but was very happy to score this one on eBay a few weeks ago (for what I thought was a great price) and no competition.

Happy New Year, everyone!
