View Full Version : 1877 Telegram Likely Sent / Possibly Signed by Yale Football Captain Eugene V. Baker

I’m hoping this 1877 Telegram was signed by Eugene V. Baker who played football for Yale from 1873-1877, and was Captain in 1876 and 1877. 1876 was Walter Camp’s rookie year…Camp went on to be called the Father of American Football.

I think he probably signed it but even if it was filled out by the telegraph clerk, I think "E.V. Baker" was likely the esteemed Eugene V. Baker. I’ve examined this telegram from every aspect in a feature currently on my home page, link above. If anyone has an example of Eugene V. Baker’s signature please post it, Thanks -Carlton
