Hey Guys
I am posting this for our very kind board member, Barry A.

Here is a cut and paste of what is known...

I recently purchased the photo because it has Pee Wee Reese( a boyhood favorite since i saw him and diz serve as baseball commentators when i was around 10 or so (falstaff and
wabash cannonball still make me smile).
I need your help in identifying the other players on the photo; i'm guessing brooklyn dodgers since barney stein is the photographer whose stamp is on the back.
I'm thinking one looks like furillo a bit and one looks like riggs, but i'm not really sure.

I think the guy in the dark suit may be Dixie Howell. I don't see Furillo in there.

Guy with gray hair in the back possibly Jake Pitler?

many thanks for the help.
i was guessing that the fellow in the front with the wavy hair and bright tie
might be furillo but i figured it unlikely.
please keep the hunches coming.
all the best,
barry

and many, many thanks, Leon ,for your help, ole buddy.

I have a photo of old Brooklyn players that has the grey-haired guy in it. Unfortunately, I can't find the photo :(, but I remember it had Rucker, Wheat, Dahlen and one other guy.

many thanks for the efforts. Do let me know if you find the photo.
I've been rummaging through old books with photos and checking the internet
a bit but am not having much luck yet.
This photo is a tough one for me.
Keep the hunches coming.

thanks for the help via this thread and emails fellows.
so far, it looks like seated reese, howell, furillo and
pitler standing behind reese.
the riggs lost out as a possibility thus far.
i'm still hoping that there's a photography(stein) or brooklyn dodger expert on this board who may have a hunch who the other three standing may be.
Help, please.
all the best,
barry

I've seen that picture before.I can't remember where.I have a bunch of Brooklyn Dodger books.I will check them out.I'm thinking that it's from the
mid to late '40's,but I could be wrong. If I come up with anything I'll let you know.

Reese , Pitler & Dixie Howell are correct. there is no Furillio in this pic. The one with the wavey hair might be Erv Palica. Let me know your thoughts.

many thanks for the corroboration of three players and the offer of a new one,
Erv Palica. From my perusal of photographs and cards, I think Palica is correct. His time period surely matches Reese, as well.
Now, how about the 3 left standing? any ideas?
all the best,

Barry:

The three left standing have got me stumped, I tried my best amatuer CSI skills on matching noses & eyes , but I can not come up with a match. I would be very interested to know who they are.

Best regards,

Len

I'm in the same boat with you on this one.
Let's keep investigating!
Perhaps there's a photography or brooklyn dodger expert on this board who still hasn't chimed in.
all the best,

The first guy standing on the left looks like Dolph Camilli

many thanks for the input.
i quickly took a look at his period with the dodgers and compared with reese and they do overlap from 40-43. Camilli is 11 years older than reese, though.
I'm going to take a look at photos of camilli , as I don't know much about
him.
I'm crossing my fingers on this one!
all the best,
