I just purchased a number of these "cards" on ebay mainly going after the Gehrig card.

After I won the Gehrig, I bid and got some other HOF's and the seller's combines shipping policy helped buying others also.

I've never seen these before, basically they are cut out of the Boston newspaper. Other than yellowing they are in really nice condition.

I don't know if anybody has any insight on this series.

I believe these were actually issued in 1934 by the Boston American, which issued similar sets in 1931 and 1936 (these were called Sports Stamps and depicted football players as well as baseball players). I think Hearst papers in other towns (Chicago anyway) had similar promotions.
