I came across a signed index card of Julian Wera in a collection I purchased a number of years ago. It piqued my interest because of the recent discussion of the 1927 Yankees ball. I checked eBay and see that two sold last December for $140 and $158. Both were slabbed and serial numbered to 5. My question is, is this a fair value for a signed index card, or were the values on eBay goosed a little because of the manufactured rarity? Thanks.

They are "worth" about that, $125-$150 as full retail. They would never bring that in a true auction format but if you had one as a buy it now on ebay at $99 I bet you sell it. I have sold some beautiful vintage ones in the 150 range but a later in life 3X5 is probably realistic at around 100 if you want to move it, higher than that it will probably sit for a while.

Thank you for the information. I have quite a few signed index cards of pre 1930 players. I assume Wera brings that amount because of his association with the 1927 Yankees?

Yes, another player of same availability would be in the $20-$30 range without the '27 Yankees collectors.
