I'm not here to bash PSA and their lack of expertise but....

The following OJ has had the ad trimmed from the bottom and the flip should only indicate AUTH at best.

Keep in mind that OJs will have "Goodwin & Co, New York" somewhere at the bottom of the card. This only goes to show that you can't always depend on the grading companies (especially PSA) to know what they're supposed to know.

Bid accordingly on cards. If you want to know more about OJs, then find "the BOOK" on OJs that is one of the best hobby references produced for any pre-war offering of cards. The book is "The Photographic Baseball Cards of Goodwin & Company (1886-1890)". It'll be worth every penny you pay for it.

Rule of thumb:

I wouldn't recommend spending too much on OJ's with Royer stamps on the back($66 is way too much). Never saw one in person but they all look the same, off-color, smaller, faded pics

I also think those are all fake... A seller once had two pictured with a penny and they appeared smaller then an original.

Matt,

You're right, they are smaller. I told a seller that I'd buy one if I could return it if I thought it was fake. It was smaller and I did return the card. I've seen a load of the Royer's come out recently. I'm pretty sure they are not "period" cards.
