Thanks guys. I was really excited that they let me share pics of the family. I was quite pleased when I saw the magazine come out. Made a real nice keepsake for me and my kiddos loved being in it.

Mike that's very awesome...Great article and a great collection. Congrats.

For some reason, the Saddam card has kinda drawn my interest. How exactly did that come about?

The Saddam is a "custom cut" that I had done back in 2009. Technically, it should be in a blue flip, rather than a red flip. The autograph is from an Iraqi administrative decree that Saddam issued back in the 80's. Before the war, Saddam was an incredibly tough autograph to get. You could usually only find him on official State presentation gifts, such as on presentation cards for gold watches, official state photos, etc. It was not uncommon that his signature would fetch four figures and more. Then, the US Soldiers uncovered several books full of these administrative decrees that were brought back from Iraq as souvenirs. I purchased some from a couple different soldiers, and I had mine translated by a language institute in Dallas, and they are just run of the mill decrees. The custom cut was made by inserting the autograph in between two authentic proset Hussein cards and cutting the window out of one of them. Basically, it's creating a mini-frame job on a card.

Very cool Mike. That was a hell of a vision you had for that one. It looks great. I didn't notice before that the Thomas was the NNOF... Again, Awesome.. Also, the cards of the kids are a nice touch. Congrats..

I never even considered collecting autos such as the Saddam one, i would if it werent for the moral and ethical implications.

I don't consider owning a signature to be immoral or unethical. If people only collected autographs of "perfect" people, then none of us would have very big collections :)

Nice looking family and write up Mike. Congratulations. You are basically down the street from me. We should meet at a local show sometime. Neat collection of signed cards too. It's always good to see more passionate collectors partaking in our hobby the way you have. Good luck in the quest!!

If you make it down to Waxahachie sometime, drop by the Ellis County Courthouse, my office is on the third floor, and I'll take you to get some grub at a great local taqueria. I can show you where Ty Cobb and the Tigers used to have spring training and we can talk hobby.
