Wasn't there a Wagner that was cut in half and sold that way by Mr. Mint? Is that "card" in the gallery?

That's pretty cool to scroll though and compare all the different conditions of the Wagner.I don't recall ever seeing that cutout Wagner. My guess would be it was part of a big display piece of some sort with a lot of cards cut in the same fashion.

Very nice to see these together.

Would the Wagner proof strip not count as an example?

Scott Ireland has an amazing and wide-ranging collection. He is still active in the hobby. I saw him at the National this year. I believe that Wagner was in Bill Mastro's personal collection at one time.

I don't know much about him, except he's got one of the best high end card collections.

What do you think it would take to corner the market on the examples shown? $20 million? And what % of examples in collection do you think is shown -- about half?

I am curious about #35 as well. #38 is very frustrating.

#35 - This card was listed in an auction advertisement in The Trader Speaks May 1977. The description stated that the card was EX with a very slight crease. Most importantly it was noted to have a Piedmont brand back.

#38 - This card was auctioned in 1996 by REA and dubbed the "Diecut" Wagner.

The issue, practically speaking (which is funny to say with such an absurd hypothetical), is that once you get down to 3 or 4 you don't own, they won't be able to be had for anywhere near what they would cost right now as you'll have dramatically shifted the supply/demand ratio.

I was thinking that, but realized that these are maybe only half of the Wagners that exist.

I think Mastro's 1972 Wagner is #12 on the list.

Verry interresting.

1500$ in 1972 is big money for a baseball card ! Almost the price of a brand new car:)

May have been discussed previously, but, I think #15 has been reslabbed into an SGC case as it looks dead on to the one Keith Olbermann (politics aside, that man has some nice cards) takes around to clubhouses and shares with players and coaches.

Here's the image that made me look.

Very hard to see, but, side trims line up the same and you can compare some of the white spots are identical on the top right and left side.
