And, to top it, off the first card ever made, 1865. Next: the Magna Carta, PSA 8?

Check out one of his closed auctions that he ended early:

Coincidentally, all of the gems being sold by this avid collector of modern-day wrestling cards are vintage beauties that have had their images previously published on the internet and are available for easy downloading.

These auctions will never make it to the finish. Eventually, eBay will figure out what's going on (when the figures start drawing attention), and will shut these down.

The scams just keep getting more ridiculous.

Um, wow?

Don't understand why he wouldn't do these as Buy Now--then at least would have a CHANCE of getting someone to fork over dough before shutdown. These listings will exit soon.

I guess the guy who just paid $575k for the BN Ruth decided to flip it on ebay. :p

I'd bid on that Plank t206 PSA 6 but already have two.

I wonder if he's just running the auctions as a goof. No one could really believe that this scam would work. Could they?

"You are guaranteed to receive the picture in this auction."

I started a thread last night, questioning why a particular T206 went for so much money. When I did a search of previous sales, I stumbled on to listings where the guy was selling Hi-Res pictures of cards for $9.99. For ten bucks, he would actually send you a copy of the picture in the listing.

Two ladies did that and thought they could get away with it while being sued over it. The case went to my favorite judge, Judge Judy. The 2 scammers actually went on the show and said they sold a picture of a smartphone for +/- $200 in their ebay auction (and not the phone itself). Judge Judy called them thieves, scammers, idiots and every other name in the book and ruled against them. It was quite a funny show...

Update: two of the cards bid up to $5000 already and one at $6000....Like I said earlier, he should have done it Buy Now and he might already have some dough...

Note his Feedback of 75 is 100%---all as a buyer, never a seller.

I guess this seller has nothing better to do on Labor Day weekend, other than stealing scans from REA's prior auctions.

I just sent him an email asking to pickup the cards in person after I win them. The location listed is only a hour from me. I asked for his mailing address. I'm curious as to his response.

Gives me an idea: I'll sell you a picture of this card for $9.95--and of another $330 I will throw in the card.

Correct, the scammers on Judge Judy never did get it. They thought they were in the right the whole time even after found guilty. What is sort of ironic is that if these scammers would spend as much time on legitimate stuff, as they do on their fraud, they could be very successful. But they are idiots and that is what idiots do, I guess.

There's an article in today's New York Times- it's actually on the front page- about conterfeit art being sold over the internet. You know, original Picassos going for $295- and it was estimated that more than 90% of the art sold online is fake. And yet there is a thriving market for it. It very much parallels what's going on with companies like CC- that they can survive unscathed, and that some people either think they're so smart that they are getting the bargain of a lifetime, or really know it's fake and don't seem to care (it still looks nice on the wall).

Scams of all kinds seem to be growing in popularity. I think for some it's a business model.

(it still looks nice on the wall).

There's actually something to be said for that.

As opposed to: "Does this piece of art (or photo) look good in it's plastic slab, and does the flip say all the things I like?" If the answer is 'yes', then it gets stacked in a box with like items, to be brought out only on discussion boards for show and tell.

Anyone that knows me my real passion is original art work by 2 very famous artists. Like cards, you have to know exactly what you are looking at. Buy only from reputable art dealers that deal only in your specialty and hopefully have some providence to go with it. As the saying goes if its too good to be true it's fake. I can say that my collection is documented and have never been fooled into buying a fake. Know your seller and know your specialty, weather cards, art or whatever you collect.

eBay should take advantage of knowing folks that can spot a fake a mile away. Of course, whatever team they could put together would have to be willing to do it full time as it seems that the number of bogus listings is ever-growing. It certainly would be a never-ending job for an Extraordinary League of Bullsh*t Spotters for sure.:)

Amazing that despite the obvious, ebay has not yet taken action. Based on the history this guy likes racy posters, cheap wrestling cards, and I saw he bought a $7 thurman munson. Of course he would own 2 1914 ruths, and a Psa 6 ruth rookie m 101. What is even more amazing is that people are actually bidding thousands hoping this guy is legit. I guess these same people respond to those Nigerian need help getting my money out emails.
