I know Sovereign 150 is a tougher back, but it doesn't cost this much to get one in PSA 4 condition. I also understand that the Front View of the Schulte is a tougher common, but it isn't that hard to get one as well. Why did it sell for so much?

Maybe. But $310 is a lot of money for Sovereign 150 in a 4, wouldn't you say?

It's the combination. Neither Sovereign or Schulte on their own is all that tough, but together? I know pop reports aren't accurate, but they'll give some idea at least.

Schulte Sovereign 150

PSA
4Q- 1
4 - 1

SGC
10 -2
20 -1
30 -1
40 -1
70 -1

The SGC numbers combine 1909 Sovereign unknown pose and 1909 sovereign front view. Since the front view until recently wasn't known from anything but the 150 series and the back view is 350-460 only it's pretty safe considering the ones without a pose listed as 1909 to be front view 150 series.

And a total of 8 cards graded makes the combination pretty tough.

I don't want to take the thread down the rabbit hole of registry collecting, but if you're into that on the PSA side, it's either the 4 orthe 4Q.

Thank you very much for all of the information! That makes plenty of sense. After posting this thread, I was wondering if maybe it was a rare combination. My question has now been answered.

Best Regards.
