I saw stuff on the memorabilia side, but nothing on the autograph side. Can't wait until Cleveland next year!

No pickups to post, but I think it's Chicago next year, not Cleveland, right?

According to their website (http://www.nsccshow.com/):

The current schedule for the National is: 2011-Chicago; 2012-Baltimore; 2013-Chicago; 2014-Cleveland; 2015-Chicago; 2016-TBD; 2017-TBD; 2018-Cleveland.

Bummer! Just making sure everybody is awake :) Thanks for correcting... I would have been the only one in Cleveland next year.

M@tt, that's funny. Not poking fun at the confusion about year/location; it just reminded me of my first national show goof.

That year, the National show was in Rosemont, IL. I arrived at the Rosemont Arena and an empty parking lot, and wondered "where are all the cars?" Good thing I brought along an issue of SCD (it once had a use). I located the ad listing and after closer examination, realized the error of my ways. It all ended happily ever after. I located the actual show, had a great 1st National experience, and even purchased acouple of awesome autographed team sheets.

Nice! Been to the Rosemont to cover basketball games against DePaul. Where was the actual show?

I posted these on the memoribilia side as well...
1) Carl Hubbell circa 1920's signed snapshot

2) A 1938 fan letter to Johnny Vander Meer requesting his autograph. "Double no-hit" Johnny honored his request and interestingly enough penned the autographs of HOF Ernie Lombardi and Ival Goodman as well!

3) Bob Feller small collection of membership cards from his personal estate. Several have his signature. The light blue membership also has the signature of Ernie Shore that combined with Babe Ruth to throw an unofficial no-hitter in 1917. Ernie Shore became a Sheriff in North Carolina after his days in baseball...

Enjoy!

On the autograph front, I picked up a 1925 Philadelphia A's team signed ball. Pretty faded signatures...some not legible. Two most clear are a pair of Connie Macks. Also a Cochrane from his rookie year on the sweet spot that would rate adound a 3 out of 10. Not great quality but was inexpensive.

Also a game used final out ball from a 1926 Lefty Grove complete game win.

Mark,
Yes sir! It makes you wonder how often this actually went on during the 1930's...

Vandy was a giver! :p

. . . if letter writer George Winter of Lansdowne MD is/was related to former major league pitcher George Winter (born in PA, died in NJ - pitched for Bos_A 1901-1908 & Det_A 1908) ?

Just a thought.

Vincent,
Hmm... That's an interesting thought about the letter being written by George Winter the player. Do you have an example of George Winter's signature to compare it to?
My Vandy fan letter has fan George Winter's signature written twice. Once where he signs the letter at the end and once where he signed the SASE.

If you have the comparative signature, I think we would have your answer.
FWIW, the letter does seem to be penned by an adult...

Thanks,
Scott

Just wondering out loud whether the two G.W. were related.
