After attending the 33rd annual National Sports Collectors Convention in Baltimore, MD yesterday, me and a buddy had dinner with Dick Bielski and his wife Jo at their sons restaurant in Towson (Charles Village Pub). Over drinks and appetizers Bielski spoke about his time with the Cowboys (1960-62), as well as his Eagles and Colts playing days. He was part of the Colts coaching staff when they beat the Cowboys in Super Bowl V. What a thrill to hear the stories he shared! He also took the time to sign a few things we brought and his wife gave us a tour of the restaurant. Mrs Bielski continues to work with the NFL Retired Players Association fighting for players’ financial aid and medical assistance.

We spent about six hours at the National scouring table after table for rare Cowboys items. Nothing ground-breaking but I did buy a 1964 Cowboys team photo pennant from TX pennant dealer and Cowboys Guide contributor Rick Haskins. My main focus was looking for 1964-66 Cowboys team Coke caps, but was only able to find three ’64 logo caps. Those dang caps are so tough to find! The Heritage Auctions area had on display cards from the ‘Black Swamp Find’ (1910 E98) that auctioned a very small amount of those cards that night fetching $473,750 - article: http://shar.es/v52Ko. What a sight that was! There was also a newly discovered 1909 T206 Honus Wagner card on display.
