I've become quite fascinated by the Negro Leagues lately, and was wondering what some good movies or documentaries are? Amazon pulls up "There Was Always Sun Shining Someplace" and "Soul of the Game" - are either of these any good? They can be documentaries or fictional/fact-based movies (in the vein of "A League of Their Own").

I am ordering "Soul of the Game", but if anyone has "There Was Always Sun Shining Someplace" for sale at a reasonable price, or any other good ones, I'd be interested!

Of course the Burns documentary has some great stuff.

There was an old audio book called Voices from the Great Black Baseball Leagues that I listened to long ago...it had interviews with several players, I remember Dave Malarcher best...I think it is now a book.

I might also suggest if you have any interest at all in table top gaming, APBA (http://www.apbagames.com/) has just rereleased the Negro League Great Teams series...The original is quite rare and pricey. It is great fun. I'll be rolling a few games on vacation.

Thanks for this thread! I'm going to get them both.
I always enjoy documentaries and these sound great.
Hoping you all have a great week.
