How severely damaged must a card be in order for it to be deemed unworthy of a 1 by a grading service? The PSA standards for a grade of 1 include this point: "A Poor card may be missing one or two small pieces." How small? Hole punch? Corner torn off past the border? Depends on how big the card was to begin with? What if there are no holes or tears but heavy paper loss? How much is tolerated within the numerical grading scale? And what's the point of giving a grade of "AUTH" instead of poor in cases of severe damage, as opposed to cases of trimming or other modification with the intent to deceive?

I have a Mordecai Brown T206 card with a punch hole and it graded a one from PSA. I also have a Chief Meyers Cycle 460 T206 that is missing a good chunk and also graded a 1 from SGC.
