danmckee

It won't be many of us and you must include the tough Brown Lenox, Brown old Mill, and BL 460 to qualify.

Count me as 1

since you'll be getting numerous responses from people saying..."I have all of them except..."I have the anti T206 back set...I have none of them!

Oh so close...but not really...BL460 is as high as I got. I know of two other board members and a non member who have 100% complete runs.

Leon

What is complete? Do you include Cobb back? Any other "tweeners"? ..

danmckee
05-29-2012, 05:09 PM
Cobb back not included as that is not a T206 in my eyes.

Thanks for pointing that out Leon

I understand Dave, it is just my personal opinion, not a known fact.

I don't like the fact that no other front can be found with that back and that the fronts have a sheen on them like the coupons. Dan.

Good question Dan, I know Jim B has a smokin one so do you and a few others. I also spent sometime on mine too trying to get as nice an example of each that I could. Would be neat to see how many other guys have messed with this. Mine in case folks want to see. I too am up in the air on Cobb/Cobb but would love to own one either way...as soon as I get one it will be a T206 to me :)

Cool thing is there are always little neat items to find for not a ton of money which I think are cool and somewhat scarce too. Like this mis-strike I picked up. Lots of little things to be found if you look which is what makes this and other sets neat.

P.S. David did you ever get around to scanning your Brown Lenox of Burch you mentioned you found in your collection?

probably 8 or 10 years ago I bought 2 BL 460 HOFers and a brown Lenox from Dan. About 5 or 6 years ago I traded for a Brown Old Mill from Jerry to complete my back set.

Since then I have sold both BL 460s to help pay for my girls college tuition. Currently I only need BL 460 to be complete again. There are several "tweeners" backs -some collectors know about and some are unknown.

Cobb -Cobb I have never owned weather it is a t206 or not is still yet to be proven and Burdick assigned it as so so we keep it there but with it only having the Cobb back it will always be up for discussion.

I know of 5 complete runs and I am minus 1 and Cobb/Cobb.

Dan the collector you sold your brown Old Mill with writing on is now complete. He just picked up BL 460 and brownn Lenox.

Since this thread has strayed a bit from the original question, to the best of my knowledge, this is a complete T206 front/back set of all three Lajoie poses:

threads are made to stray...great runs guys!!! collecting t206 backs in the late eighties/early nineties is what got me big into vintage in the first place...a complete run was always my goal.

I'll have to live vicariously through yous guys cards!

no disrespect to Dan or Wonka (love you guys, you have incredible collections), but if the question is who has a "complete" T206 back set, i think we have to count the Cobb. therefore, so far i'm counting only one (Jim B's). i know of one other collector who posts here that has a complete back set including the Cobb...maybe he'll post in this thread.

wonkaticket
05-30-2012, 10:08 PM
Mike, none taken....Cobb/Cobb has always been a card that has been one way or the other for most collectors. I guess it's all where you draw the line as for the book it's labeled as a T206. This has been discussed many times etc.

I guess Dan's question is more in general terms.

Said it before don't feel it's a T206 for a number of reasons but love to have one regardless.

Cheers,

John

Jason, REA recently offered a near complete run (missing a Drum & brown OM) that went for 18k. If you could find an OM and a decent Drum, they would likely be close to that again.

Wonka's & Jim R's are complete in my books.

Since only one was found so far, i do not believe it can be considered a legit back variation (right now). at the moment it's a very cool color "error", but that's it. once a second or third one surfaces, then it'll be a different story.

FWIW- i'm not taking anythign away from the Blue OM; i saw the blue old mill in person, it is legit and very cool...just not sure it can be considered a back that everyone "needs" as of yet.

Eric- mine & Wonka's are also the same as Chris'. Jim B put his at the end. just a personal preference (i actually prefer it at the end, but i told Chris it didn't really matter- he helped me make that scan)...eitherway they're not sitting in that position in our safes :)

John,

One would think that as a T206 nut, the graded T206 card pictured should be about 12" to the viewers right thus authenticating you as a near mint example of a die hard collector. That's just how you rebels roll!

Take care buddy.

I started working on a backs run way back, but never came across some of them and hadn't considered factories at the time. Still got pretty close, missing all the usual ones. Oddly I missed a SC150 overprint but fixed that last year. Only one left that's within budget for a rough example:(

P350-460fact 42
Drum
Uzit
BL 460
OM brown
OM blue - Just had to add it:)
Lenox brown
Hindu red
Cobb
(And T213-1, T215 etc if you count them)

On the plus side I bought most of them way before backs were a major thing, so it was pretty inexpensive in low grades.
