Both this auction and Sterling's went off at the same time last night so I was busy flipping back and forth. I managed to score 6 T210s in Sterling's, losing one in the wee hours, but managed to hang on to add these 3 cards to the very tough George Miller set collection from Mile High. I thought I was going to add some upgrades for my E97 set but someone out there was very persistent in his bidding :(

Wow, no posts about MHCC? I thought whomever bought those SGC 84 E97s would have been eager to post them :(

I have a feeling it's a board member but he rarely posts. I bid on several things but didn't win any. There wasn't anything that filled a hole for me but a few of the cards would have been neat to have. I especially liked the D322 Mascot in a 5.5 holder and think I was the under bidder on it. The Dreyfus was really nice too but it was just more than I wanted to pay.

If the winner of the 1929-30 Exhibits lot is a board member and would consider parting with the Ruth/Gehrig/Durocher card, I would certainly be willing to make a very competitive offer.

After seeing where the hammer prices ended up for a few of the cards I was interested in , I was happy to have my bid hold up on this card for my White Sox T206 master set...

it's been a lot of years bidding and winning from Drent....

...yet I always feel queesy about those max bids that get "maxed" in the last hour...long after I've signed off and gone to bed...every time..like clockwork.

It's f'ing uncanny!

Dave,
You've obviously got an uncanny knack for knowing just how much it's going to take to bring it home.

I realize these E91 caramel cards are not going to win any 1st place ribbons with the hardcore card collectors on this board, but I was real happy with this small win!

It contained at least three "Frank Nagy" cards :), which wasn't mentioned anywhere in the description (I'm sure the consigner was happy with that ;)), plus if this set was once upon a time collected by Frank. Well, that is a good enough endorsement for me.

Nice cards, Iggy-- I believe all but the Clarke depict the actual subject. BTW, I've got a Nagy e91 myself (my only one--for type):http://photos.imageevent.com/imoverhere/prewar/various/large/08e91AChance.jpg

I bid on a few Play Ball items, but didn't win anything at Mile High.

I thought the most interesting hammer price was the '91 Desert Shield set going for $76k. I've spoken to the owner of that set a few times and its pretty unbelievable how much time and $ he had into it. 120 psa 10 pop 1s.
