Have to agree -- unless he received an astronomical number, he would have done much better if he had taken bids.

I too was interested in the piece and was told by him that he took an offer of $3500. I do not blame him for taking the offer.

Could likely have done better at auction, but if he avoided a sellers commission (and a long wait) then he did ok. Still might have been able to hold out for more on a direct sale. Tough to find them this nice!

$3,500 is a fair and strong price...maybe $4,000 but can't blame the seller.

i recently found an awesome trophy at a flea market! i originally bought it as a joke trophy for a fantasy baseball league. th

so what would you pay for a joke.

getting $3500 is fantastic.

If he held out what would he have gotten maybe 4. Auction and then paid a fee plus had to wait for the money?

In a week he made a nice profit

Good for him

How many here offered him a whole lot less?

Now that we know the price -- I agree that it's a very strong number!

God, I love rational, pragmatic thinking.

Didn't he pay around $100 for this at the flea market? How anyone can question this transaction even a little is baffling.

Found money. You can't beat it.

Well....If he's a casual collector it's found money....If he's hard core you would have to subract years (maybe decades) of searching fleas, shows, eBay, etc. to get that deal...rising at 4:00AM, flashlight at 5..., planes, trains, and aoutomobiles...a lot of gas and getting out there at 5:00am on 4-5hours sleep trudging thru it...But hey it's gotta happen to somebody...maybe he just walked into it...that's why I PM'd him for the details but he never replied....That's OK though I could use the time.

Not everyone is looking for top dollar. If he's happy, who cares.. more power to him.
