I am interested in signed 1941 Play Balls. While looking for these, I have noticed there are far more 1939 and 1940 signed Play Balls. Does anyone have any theories on this? Maybe because the 1941 sample size is smaller?

Thanks!
Jim

I'm not a big card guy, but wasn't the 41 playballs not released till mid year, and then only like 40 some odd cards? After Pearl Harbor, I think the whole set was reprinted and designated as 42 cards...I may be wrong. Anyway, with fewer cards and the war, maybe these weren't as easy to find later on to get signed. Seems like when I've seen 41's signed they are of players that were at the autographs shows in the 80's.

Ya, my thinking is the limited number of cards and fewer stars than the previous years. I'm sure the war had something to do with it as well.
The 41's are not rare by any means but definitely less common than the others. I guess that is what will make this more fun.
