Most of this has been discussed, but I still find it fascinating. Several T206 stars made the original top 50, but never got in.

And several of the stars of the 1800's, who also were selected for small sets (Dunlap, Glasscock, Bennett), were rated very high by the Veteran's committee back then, but still never made it.

Interesting that Hal Chase got votes, but as I understand it he was not officially banned in the way the Sox players were.

Also, I guess active players were eligible for the HOF in 1936?

Well, I believe back then and still now, nobody wants to vote someone in 100%, and now first ballot for some odd reason. They don't feel that player "deserves" it. IMO

Maybe also some character issues were involved, Cobb is self-explanatory with what was wrong with him. Ruth as well to an extent.
