I know there are a couple obvious ones - Old Judges, e107s, etc... but what about some of the lesser known sets? t211s? Specific Zeenut years? 1910 Orange Borders or '11 Baseball Bats? d310s?

Pretty simple topic but looking forward to some interesting discussion!

e104-3 set will never be completed IMO.

Has anyone completed a t208 set?

i'd guess t208 has been completed with the sale of multiple of these sets in the past few years.

Has anyone completed a t208 set?

I think there are 1-2 complete T208 sets. Also, I am quite sure there are at least a few D310 sets out there. However, I think There are a ton of sets never completed (that I am aware of). Many of the rare, obscure uncategorized ones don't have complete ones known. Orange Borders, J=k, T231, E123, E221, E270, E286. Also, I have never heard of many of the 19th century sets being completed. Many 19th century sets....N172, N173, N338, N403 N690, N693, E223 etc.....are ones which I am not aware of any being completed. The list goes on.. Heck, depending on how you define it, a true pre-war type set would be very difficult to complete and I am fairly sure has never been done.

There are allegedly 4 Bohens in existence but no one has ever completed a master set of 1911 Zeenuts with all variations. Mark Macrae is closest and he does have a Bohen but even he does not have a master set.
Most of us consider the 1911 Zeenut set complete without a Bohen and without all the variations, just one of each player, although it is always great to uncover a new variation.
No one to my knowledge has ever completed a master set of E94s with all colors of all players (although I am trying hard :D).
I think someone might have a complete set of T210s with all variations but I am not aware who that person might be. The Jackson and Stengel are stumbling blocks, even if you have the Morris and Mascot cards..
I once was one card shy of the 213-3 set, not sure if anyone has that set nowadays, mine was broken up after sale. I am almost 100% positive no one has the set with the overprinted factory backs, not even close.

I feel like I've posted the word 'Voskamp' a lot in my recent posts, but here goes again...1913 Voskamp's Coffee, at this point is uncompletable with two cards yet to be confirmed. And now that I think about it, I guess the same goes for their 1921(?) issue, where I believe the only known card is Doug Radar. Sure would love to have somebody prove that thought wrong and show a Gibson from the later Voskamp issue.

I'm guessing few, if any, of the following Canadian issues have ever been completed either:

FC59 Honey Boy Ice Cream
V89 William Patterson
V117 Maple Crispette
1924 Crescent Ice Cream
1925 Holland Creameries

Regards,

Richard.

I believe there will be another 1921 Voskamps coming into the hobby soon.

On William Paterson, I may know one guy (not me) who is close to completing the set.

One I will put up for consideration is the Schapira Brothers set which is very obscure:

Nice list Frank. I wonder if anyone has completed the E122 set. Not terribly popular, but not far behind (if at all) Curtis Irelands in rarity. I don't know if the t215 Pirate set was ever completed either.

T211 has been completed (not by me). T210 has been completed by several people although I doubt that any of them really care about the orange variations (I know I don't).

Ahhh, Danny Boy beat me to it! Aboslutely Correct!

There is a Collector working on it though... I've been hoping to either Help him out or at least find a "New one!" Still Seeking...

I believe that the closest any one has come, has been about the 33 card total!?

The 1913, 1914, and 1919 Zeenut sets have been completed, and possibly the 1916, and I am pretty sure I have seen a couple of complete D310 sets offered at auction.

Ah, I've always wondered about that one. Seems to me one could get awfully close if not. I've only owned one mello-mint in my time [and it's gone now], but it's certainly one of my favourite E sets. If I ever win the lottery and Mr. Klein allows me to buy more than just one card, I'd like to take a crack at Mello-Mints.

And Frank, I saw e92 Nadja on your list. Is that to say the other 3 e92 series are completable? I know there was a chap working on Croft's Cocoa a few years back and that he was within 1 card, but I never heard if he closed out the set.

If your counting backs, you can put a whole bunch of the 1916 M101-4/5 tough backs as not completable- I dont even know if 20 total cards exist for the Green Joyce and Mall Theatre cards. I would also think the Altoona Tribune, Block & Kuhl, Burgess Nash, Everybodys, Gimbels, Holmes to Homes, Morehead Baking, Successful Farming, and Wares are nearly impossible unless a complete sheet/collection is found.

Jay - I will gladly swap you 17 red borders for your 17 Orange borders. Since you don't care... ;)

I know of only 1 person that has completed the T211 set (The same person Jay is referring to) and know of one person that is 1 card away, and 3 others that are within a dozen or less. With that being said, there are only 75 cards in the T211 set, so with 1 complete set known, and 3 others close, it really speaks to the rarity of the Red Suns.

E222?

I saw that Home Run Kisses were mentioned. I know that it's a tough set and between sgc and psa, there are only 80 of the 90 cards that have been graded with many having a pop of only 1.
My question is, are there any noted shortprints or cards that have not been seen yet from this set?

Jim.

E222?

I think 1 west coast collector might have E222 completed. He would have the E221s complete too if it weren't for the 13 player LA card, of which only 1 is known...and it's not in his collection.

Can anyone please explain the Zeenut Bohen? I don't know much about PCL cards, why is it so rare? Was it that they pulled the card because he didn't play in 1911?

Not sure if anyone has a complete set (68) of Type 1 Coupons anymore. I do know a whole set was sold years ago if memory serves and perhaps a few near sets have been sold off in pieces. I was at around 50-55 cards into the set and decided to pull out and focus only on the Southern Leaguers.

Barry - Here is the Morris card. It seems to be a pretty tough one to find, but not sure how much more scarce it is than other Series 3 cards. It does seem to come around less than other series 3 cards. Perhaps the uniqueness of the pose prevents it from leaving collections at the same pace as other series 3 cards. (Series 3 in my humble opinion is underated for its scarcity)

1928 Star Player Candy cards are hard to find. Yet, in the Old Cardboard #10 article about them it says there are 72 cards in the set (73 if a Lou Gehrig exists). What wasn't said was that there is a collector who has 70 of the cards. I think they are missing the Ruth and the Buddy Myer card.

I have 16 of the cards (including the Myer) and there was a person who once had at least 40 of the cards (until they auctioned them off).

So, if the person who had the 70 cards still has them and if they wanted to, they could complete the set.
