From what I can remember seeing this is the best Cobb tin ever found. It's hard to say but I wouldn't be surprised at 75k......who knows? 100k for more? Just depends on how bad at least 2 collectors with deep pockets want it.

I should add, after reading the write up, I concur. It is not only better it is a LOT better than the next best.

My question is, what is the back story of how it was found and how it stayed in such great condition all of these years. Was it a sample kept in company storage? Was it tucked away in an attic or basement for 80 years?

All these great items that come to surface are fascinating and intriguing but what really captivates me is the story behind the object itself. I love reading item write-ups to see if that is ever explained. Much of the time it is which I really enjoy. I would love to know but I would guess this tin didn't move much over its lifetime considering the amazing condition!

Am I the only one who thinks this is the ugliest thing, the cobb photo looks bad(I know its 1912 and not 2012 standards). lol

:D also see: T206 Cy Young portrait. :D

Joking aside, that is a beautiful Cobb item. While it's not a spitting image of Cobb, it has its appeal. To some, it's charming, for lack of a better word.

I would love to hear the "find" story of this one. t206resource.com did a nice write up on it last week.

There is a second tin out there that is quite clean as well.

Wow... I like that Legendary example even better. I know the Tax Stamp is incredibly rare and desirable on the REA example. But to me it's even nicer without it. Just a cleaner, more streamlined look, IMO. That said, I wouldn't be too disappointed with either one ;)
