I wanted to go higher on it, but had a limit. It appears this one might be uncatalogued. Anyone recognize the face?
I had a couple ideas, thought maybe Egan or even Hoblitzell, but, honestly, I have no clue.
Gabby Street? Thomas Downey?
Let's ID the man.
Adding the picture for quick reference. Hopefully this will help. It's been bothering me.

The gentleman in the cabinet is NOT butt-ugly Egan. There, now we have narrowed it down.

Not Street--his hairline is very different.

It's definitely not Bob Ewing. Here is my Ewing Horner:

The Cincinnati jerseys appear to be different though that could be a case of years and home/away.
Is there a chance the player is a Minor Leaguer?
I thought it went for a good price even with the trim.

I was one of the underbidders on this one (I think my bid was around $210) - I liked it but didn't love the condition. But I was definitely curious as to the identity as well!

I've been looking at historical rosters, still can't find anything...
Doesn't look like Dubuc to me, but, heck, I'm wrong all the time.

I too have searched Cincy players from 1905 to 1912 and have yet to find a convincing match. I agree with all the names ruled out.

He is Fred Smith. The same image appears on page 125 of Okkonen's Baseball Memories 1900-1909 identified as Smith. It is also used in the 1907 Cin NL head-shot composite in Sporting Life. Also, he is a reasonable match to Fred Smith in the 1904 Terre Haute team photo.

I saw it. i spent two hours matching pictures and the best I could come up with was Cozy Dolan...
Good to know who it is now...I never came across Fred Smith. I can sleep now.
