Amazing photo, Brian. That's a winner for sure. Amazing composition on that shot.

After reading K.O's article on T206 Resource about the unreleased T206 Southern League Proof cards I was drawn to one in particular, the Danville Fleet Mayberry Pitching Pose.A quick search showed he had a T210-2,what luck.It took about 1 week for one to pop up on Ebay via Joe's Vintage.Im glad to add this card and wish the T206 made it into production.

I'm now at 200 T206 SGC40s. Thanks to Lee for the Crawford and Jason for the Phelps. I'm extremely excited to reach this milestone and couldn't have done it without help from all here on N54... my buyers, my traders and the BST sellers. While I don't have most of the "big dogs," I do have a BeanTown Mathewson Dark Cap, 16 other HOFs and 10 SL. With your help (and a whole lot of selling), I've managed to get these 200 cards for an average of (wait for it)... $6.45 per card.

He looks pretty serious, as he should - this photo was taken in June, 1928, dead-center in the middle of a 3-year managerial stretch in which he went 116-295, quite possibly the worst consecutive three years in MLB history.

John - I concur... T210's are one of the most inconsistently graded cards by PSA and SGC. They just don't know how to deal with the red border chipping.... I have seen cards like John's get a 5, 4, 3, and 2. All over the board. When a superb one comes along with maybe a spec of red missing, they tend to undergrade those as well even if all 4 corners are sharp. Bottom line - too many grader's with different opinions. I put no stock in the number from grading companies. I am not even disappointed with it either... It's just an expectation. I look at the slabs as protection and a nice way to display, but that is it. (Prefer em raw)

BTW - Nice Martin ! :)

For some reason, spring training sends me into a modern kick. So I've unfortunately been buying a buch of the shiny stuff lately...BUT I did manage to pick up two pre-war items recently, a '34 Diamond Matchbooks Ernie Lombardi and a b18 Ray Chapman.

Just Like tbob thanked and recognized Tom A. for selling him the last C46 card that he needed for the set; I wanted to thank Bob for his generosity in return to me for selling me an E98 that I needed. He exchanged it with me in a sell/trade combination. I really appreciate it Bob! It gets me within 15!
Up until now, I had never seen a Davis with a Blue Background before with my own eyes:eek:
Thanks,
Tim

My new February pickup is not the card below (well that was a pickup this month as well, but I digress), I just installed a new all-in-one printer with CCD scanning technology vs CIS scanning technology.

Old Scanner (HP Photosmart C5180):

New Scanner (Canon PIXMA MG8120B):

WOW! What a difference!

I know it's a beater, but it's the best one I'll ever own. I called the auction house and asked if other cards from the auction were part of the 'soapbox' group and they are looking into it. Meanwhile, I smelled the inside of the box and the other five cards I won smelled like it, so I guess the question is answered.

"the card was discovered within a group that was put away during the 1930s (the original box in which all were housed is being offered with this card)."

Congrats Scott....not a bad looking "collector-conditioned" card. I like it.

The color pops on that T3 Dahlen... but is he using a 25 inch bat? That thing is smaller than a Fungo!

It is not the size of the bat but how you use it, at least that is what I tell myself.

Got my 1910 Waddell notebook cover and it looks fantastic! This is 1 of 3 known proofs to exist.
