I'm thinking of putting together the 72-73 basketball set - first set I collected as a kid.
I usually lean toward raw collector grade.
Any insight regarding the cost of these cards nowadays?
Thanks!

I put the set together in all psa 8...it is about a $3000+ project in that grade...I think I sold a pretty nice raw set for around $800 a couple of years ago...I would think you could put together a nice set for 500 to 800

Thanks for the reply!
Got my first batch in from ebay and it didn't thrill me. So much bad centering (that wasn't mentioned by the seller). I took it as an omen and decided to put my money elsewhere!
So, I decided not to collect this set afterall.............
Regardless, I had it in mind that I was going to shoot for about $350 total in a lower grade. Maybe that wasn't so do-able!

Kevin Grew, one of the writers from SMR magazine, called today to ask some questions about the 72 Topps basketball set for an article he is writing for one of their upcoming issues. I think sets that Kevin writes about tend to spike in price a little when he highlights them in SMR. If your still thinking about doing the set, it might be a good time to get a good start on it before the article appears in their magazine. Just a thought.
