Hi all,

I just picked these two up in an antique shop and am passing them on to you.

The first is a 50s Willie Mays signature model. The lining is like butter, stamping is unimprovable, heavy rolled piping. Has a water stain on back of finger (not as dark as it looks in this pic), veeery light ink on back of web, and slit in patch (see pic).

Next is a Hutch with unusual stitching between fingers (Bob Avilla). Heavy leather, rolled piping, smooth as butter lining, perfect patch and button.

Is the Mays glove playable? In other words, if I bought it, I'd buy it as a cool glove to play around in, not as a collectors item. Is the leather soft or brittle. Do you think it would hold up to the wear of play? Are the laces in good shape. What about the interior padding on the palm?

Hi Mike,

Yep...this honey has seen little use and is as soft and smooth as the day it was made. You should probably buy both so your catch partner has good leather as well;)

The Mays is yours if you want it. Just lemme know.
